You have about 20% to 30% in charges most pawn shops and gun stores will charge. If you could sell it in the classifieds here you have a lot of wiggle room to sell quick and still beat out the stores.

Even more so. If what you want is on sale, you are already cutting into their profits. Don't expect too much love on the trade-in value unless that sale item is high end. Doing what you proposed is definitely quick and convenient, but you probably have to take a bit of a loss on the trade-in in exchange.

I seem to recall that a consignment must be in the FFL's book for 30 days before it an be transferred.

I have no idea why, but recall running into that at the old Field Time Sports and Gun when I did a consignment there years ago.

If this is truly the case, then going consignment could cause a delay in funds vs PPT.

I believe you are correct. Must be there 30 days before they can sell it for you.

OP the above is great advice. I average the recent sold prices, eliminating outliers both high and low. That is a fair price for both. I offer to drive to meet a decent distance to avoid shipping costs and hassles, making the price even more fair.

              Not necessarily...

Just sold a pistol on GB that had been listed on CG Marketplace. Got $450 more than the (lowball) offers I was getting on here. A couple weeks is probably not long enough time on CG to determine your best price.

However, if you want to move something fast, CG Marketplace is the way to go (if you are not wedded to a price).

Of course they low-ball you...they're basic business goal is to make money.

That said, I'd personally pass on ANY seller here with NEGATIVE feedback.
