    what happened to AB357

what ever happened to AB357?......that was the bill that was introduced that delt with california and the "shall issue" of CCW permits. i was following the stuff, and last i heard there was supposed to be a hearing the 14th of march or something, then i read that the guy who introduced the bill withdrew or cancelled the hearing, and that was that. is it a dead issue now?

      hope it goes thru.

i think that everyone who is qualified to have a CCW permit should have one, and i dont think that if qualified that the sherrif should have the right to deny you. when i moved from butte county (which by the way is one of the only shall isue counties out there anymore)to shasta county i went down to the sherrifs office to get my permit changed over. i paid all my fees, jumped thru all the hoops, and they said they couldnt issue a permit until i relinquished my butte county permit as i didnt live there anymore. i said OK and gave it to them, and as soon as i did they denied my CCW in shasta stating that they didnt feel i had any reason to have one ( at the time i was a licensed firearms dealer and gunsmith, and a combat handgun instructor, as well as a double small business owner thats been robbed), and they returned my CCW to butte county, who said that they couldnt return it to me as i didnt live there anymore. if id have known that the sherrif was was going to pull that bs id have kept it and never went to get it changed over t shasta county. i found out after the fact that the sherrif here is a real dick when it comes to CCW permit issuance. go figure

i dont think any sherrif should be able to make any decisions on weather or not a person should be able to carry or not.

i think that if AB357 gets passed, ill throw my 1911 on a permit of course, as well as one of my glocks, and im thinkin , just for chits and grins maybe my 8 3/8" s&w 500...whatchya think?...LOL

        Whichever one or all apply:

        1. LE lobbyists showed up and talked the committee out of it.
        2. (D) committee members had their minds made up beforehand.
        3. (D) committee members had someone else tell them what to do--i.e. vote for this and you're out.
        4. Corruption.

Failed passage in Public Safety, probably dead for the year.

That stuff is in the 2nd Amendment, Politics and Laws forum, so read there for info on bills.

I keep a consolidated list - just read the first post - of all the active bills in this thread

And there are individual threads for many of the bills - look for thread titles with the bill number, e.g. "AB 357" "SB 776"
