Reasons it costs more than 223/556 9mm

lower volume - heavier bullet (basically 1 308 uses up 3 223) more powder.

If you were selling a 20rd box of .308, not match grade, just FMJ 150gr. If you ran a business, 2500sqft, how much money a box would you want to make?

Ammo isn't the right model for gun stores. How stoked would you be to make $50 bucks on an investment of $550 per case? You would probably need to have a lot of cases in stock, and in multiple calibers, before you drum up the foot traffic that would make it worth your while. I wouldn't do it for a buck a box, and once I'm out the bargain basement model why not up it to 14.99 and sell the same volume?

The South African 7.62x51mm ball ammo that arrived in light brown rubber carry cases that I shot circa
early 1990s was stout. It worked. But stout. $200...Hmmm...The two hundred sounds right, but I think that
was for a 840 round case and not a typical 1,000 round ammunition unit.

Might be a south of the equator way of counting.

Those are prices that I often see.
So what is the accuracy & QC like on that Wolf Poly stuff?

Actually, after buying some I've yet to actually shoot it in my Remington bolt action. Other things have gotten in the way, like reloading and trap shooting. Sorry, I cannot give you a range report.

How I miss those days... I remember buying 5.56. Like, seeing WWB at a gun show for ~200 a case and wondering why anyone would ever spend that much extra on ammo.

I remember the day, but not the year, when Miwal made it official that WWB twenty round box of 223 cost went over 2 bucks, plus tax!

And that strange looking feller with the camo hat selling at another table had Chech 762x39 brass case FMJ ammo for 10 cents a round. And
you had to buy it by the case despite there being more than 1,000 rounds of it in one green ugly wooden box. Because it was already loaded onto
stripper clips there wasn't a extra charge. And the sheet was corrosive! I ask you, who shoots x39 ammo anyway? Geeze, what a rip-off.

every rifle and barrel can perform differently but doesn't look terrible.

We all knew local gun store prices were going to go up once they no longer had any competition from online sales. It's not surprising. Thanks Gavin!

For basic meat and potatoes blaster practice ammo I have used Wolf classic 145 and Silver bear 145 that shoots as well as LC M80 NATO surplus. Consistent accuracy in my semi and bolt 308 rifles.

Sent using a long string and 2 used soup cans

I don't expect "mom & pop" gun shops to be competitive on ammo but larger chains like Turdners with their buying power can afford to discount more. They once offerred American Eagle at 11.99/box. They can definitely offer the NAFTA "hecho in Mexico" Aguila ammo for that and still make a profit.

That stuff was good and cheap but witin the last 6 months its been unobtainable. Perhaps the source dried up due to political sanctions? Anyone know? Thats also the same reason why ZQI is gone.
