                I do exactly this. Opened a small hole in the fabric and fed the cable for my lock box thru and around the metal frame. No one has ever stolen my firearm from my bag in route.

                I got an extra cable so I could leave that one there. I use the other one to secure my lockbox in the rental car and at the hotel
