    Bass Pro Manteca

Refused to do a private party transfer for an AR lower claiming they did not have a dangerous weapon permit and that the lower was not even allowed in the store and I had to leave immediately.

I spoke with my friend who is an FFL and there is no special permit required to sell AR lowers. ( He is in Elk Grove, only reason I didn't go to him. )

I am thinking Bass Pro has a policy against AR rifles.

Like most other California gun dealers they just don’t want to do it and make up an excuse not to.

      Agreed ....
I would think that most retailers would want customers in their store, spending money, kind of waiting around looking at the merchandise, But not BPS.

I live about 4-5 miles from the Rancho store, its a waste of time.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Bass Pro Shop is great for fishing gear. That’s it. Go to a real gun shop for guns.

Report them to the DoJ. They are in violation of the law.

I dont think they even carry any rifles with 'features' in any of the CA stores. They list many AR pattern rifles on their website, but I have not seen any on the rack @ Manteca or San Jose.

Its all shotguns and bolt guns and a small selection of handguns. They probably just want to keep their hands clean and not try to have their employees navigate the clustercuss of CA laws

Possibly more mass confusion within a big box retailer.

Thoughts---Wrong--They have the right to refuse service to anyone. It is their store so their rules. You do not need to like it and can go somewhere else.

Yeah, since they are Cabelas as well, lots of ARs , HKs etc are still plentiful on the racks as well as a huge selction of pistols in the display cases here and other states. It's just the CA laws like you mention. BassPro doesn't dislike ARs
Also, although they have a right not to sell or do a PPT they are a**bites for lying to the OP by saying they need a dangerous weapon permit.
