Vinegar + Peroxide for lead removal. Who’s tried it?

I cast and hi tek coat my bullets. Noticed the barrel of my xdm 5.25 has some leading. Not effecting accuracy but I wanna clean it. Reading how vinegar and peroxide work BUT soaking for more than 5 minutes is bad and that it can take the blueing off.

How about mix the solution and then swab into the barrel. Let set 2 minutes and following with brush and water, dry then oil?

It's known as The Dip and is great for cleaning comps and suppressor components.

    Kiss any blueing good by.

Makes a really great batch of toxic waste as well. Wear gloves.

I like cleaning guns. One, you usually have to be surrounded by guns to clean them. And two, for the most part there is a direct relationship between the time you invest and the results on the other end.

    It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

Buy some of the birch wood Casey lead wipes

Cut the into a patch and press as a tight fitting patch with a jig

          Umm, not sure about that.

Vinegar removes blueing and/or parkerising from steel. I would not let vinegar anywhere near my guns.
Commercial lead cleaners are cheap enough. Why risk ruining the finish.

            Amazon
            Cabelas
Local gun shop should have them too

These are a cloth designed to remove lead from items.
            End of the cylinder
            Forcing cone
            Barrels

There is another wipe on the market designed to take lead off of your hands after shooting- those will not work to remove it from your gun.

Try some pipe smokers brass screens on a jag to punch the lead out. Too easy and cheap.
I get best results with plastic jags. Not brass jags cuz they're too tight. YMMV so trim to fit as needed.

I've used it for glock barrels. It works, but there are safer and much more eco friendly ways to do the same.

You could try this.... however, might remove the bluing.

                      Chore Boy copper scrubbing pads.
Just cut off a little, wrap it around your bore brush. Takes leading right out.

I would strongly recommend against oxidizing metallic lead to lead salts unless you know what you are doing.
