Which gun would you get your dad for Father's Day?

Father's Day is this coming Sunday June 16th so I will ask the just for fun question of...

What gun would you get your dad?

And why it would be a rifle, shotgun or handgun or even why particular brand or caliber?

    * I know some of us can't do that, for many reasons, but theoretically if you could what would you get him?

I think I would have to choose some type of shotgun setup for sporting clays. He was an athlete and I think he would enjoy that type of physical activity over something like long distance rifle range shooting or handgun target practice.

And it would absolutely Have to be American made with American made parts from top shelf American company.

I know that eliminates a lot of shotguns so we'd have to get some kind of older but classic shotgun.

Maybe a nice Remington 1100 but I have a feeling he would prefer the physical activity/ positive action of a pump gun ... so then maybe a nice Remington 870, made years ago with quality and set up for some type of clay shooting sports.

And most likely it would be in 12 gauge.

If my pops was still around, he always dreamt about buying a Beretta 92. He was all about that Italian lifestyle.

I would get a .45, like the one he got when came to this country. He remembers the US for three things back in the motherland: Blondes, Chevys, and .45s. He was only able to get 2 of the 3 due to my mom. Lol

Yesterday I went with my buddy to pick up the new Colt 38/357 he bought for his father. While it was in 10 day jail we shoot it a couple times, not bad. I liked it more then I thought I would, nice trigger pull. Biggest complaint we had with it was the trigger itself seemed a little too thin.

I got my dad a Walter PPK .22 since he said he was no longer confident he could hold his old .357 mag service revolver on a home intruder for any length of time.

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

If Dad weren't in heaven I'd get him a 1911 Colt like the one he carried in England during WWII. He told me he always carried one with 2 extra mags when ever he was in London. Just in case Jerry tried to drop paratroopers into the city. [emoji6]

Today is my Dad's birthday. He'd be 104. (He's been gone since 1977).

Even when he was blind in one and missing all the fingers down to the first joint on his right hand he could hit a gnat in the behind at a 100 yards with his old 22LR.

I would most pleased to get him any firearm but I bet he'd like to have his old Mossberg back.

                        Dad is long gone.

I would have to dig through a huge pile of family photos, but my dad was a motorcycle cop in Canada in the 1930's.

I would try to get him what he carried back then, something like a S&W pre Model 10.

You might have just given me a reason to buy another gun OP.

Seems like a common denominator here is that we are old and our fathers are no longer with us. But if Dad was still here and feeling good, a Ruger LCR-X .22 3" or SP101 .22 4". Keep the cost of ammo down and easy on older hands.
