What to cared "paint" from rust

Did a cutting on a Glock slide and it bare metal. I used the Birchwood to cover up the bare part but than it's causing it to rust instead of turning back into blue or black as the slide color. What diy color do I need to get or where to find it. Thanks

Used cold blueing?
Blueing is a form of rust. You have to lightly buff it off and reapply as necessary. Heat or boiling water may accelerate the process. Lots of videos on youtube.
And, you still have to keep it oiled.

Keep coating and rubbing.

When you apply the Birchwood Cold Blue, you leave it for a few minutes then RINSE WITH WATER. Then repeat the process several times.

After you are all done, give a final rinse with water and then dry thoroughly then OIL the parts well.

Also note, some metal (like stainless) cannot be cold blued.

Birchwood Casy Super Blue works well for me.

I leave it on longer than what the directions call for, but not longer than 2 minutes. It must be washed off! Or yes it will cause rusting.

Thank you guys I'll give it another try. I didn't think of rinsing with water. I just leave it on than wipe it off after. Thanks again I'll try what most of you on have started to used
