    Ruger Factory folder

I know to have an assembled Ruger Mini 14 rifle, with an attached factory folding stock is a violation of California ASW law. The question is
If kept disassembled and separated (different physical locations) your ok with just the upper receiver.
To sell same what is the best route??? Rifle upper currently in after market full stock.

What is value of factory folder excellent condition.
Rifle Serial 185-782XX . Will be looking to sell

The stock only, not complete weapon. Will sell both parts separately naturally, therefore legally

Having the firearm disassembled, and sold as disassembled parts or as a featureless centerfire rifle, will make it CA legal under CA assault weapons laws.

        However...

What is the overall length of the rifle with the stock folded?

If it is under 26", then it's considered a SBR under CA laws. [PC 17170(b)]

Possessing or having control over the parts (stock + rifle that can use it) to make a SBR is illegal in CA. [PC 17170(e)]

Don't sell the pieces separately. Put it on gunbroker including the stock, because collectors want the original stock that came with the gun.

Someone like me would buy it if the folding stock were removed. I'd be buying a barreled action and a curio.

If you have a standard stock on it now. You can sell that as is with the folding stock sold along with.

That would be legal. Attaching the folding stock to the barreled action brings you right into illegal land.

Slightly off topic, but what is the maximum legal length for rimfire not to be considered an ASW? For example a 10/22 with a Butler Creek folding stock comes in at 27". Is that legal?

Minimum overall length for semi-auto centerfire rifles = 30".
Minimum overall length for manually operated centerfire rifles = 26".
Minimum overall length for single-shot centerfire rifles = 26".
Minimum overall length for all rimfire rifles = 26".
Minimum overall length for all shotguns = 26".

Overall length is measured with the firearm in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed).

                      FYI...
Samson Manufacturing recently announced on social media that they will be making & selling a stainless steel reproduction of the original Ruger Mini-14/AC-556F folding stock. Estimated price is $250. Estimated release time frame is Q4 2019 - Q1 2020.

That will be great for the shooters but the originals will always bring a premium to the collectors.

My Mini14 is a 2000 RAW. I have a cheepo folder on it now but an original would be nice.
