    Long term storage

What's the best way to store guns for longer time-frames, 2-3 years, if they are going to be unattended and humidity control is not guaranteed?
Oil well and hope for the best? Pack in grease?

Are there any places in SoCal that offer long term gun storage as a service? Looking for solutions and welcome any and all suggestions.

AudioPhil has excellent facilities for long-term storage. You should message him.

      Zip lock bag
ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

GI ammo cans work great for storing handguns inside a safe

+1. I might also apply a very liberal coat of Renaissance Wax. Couldn't hurt.

Strip off the plastic and wood, soak heavly in oil, seal up in a plastic bag.

I do....but, I also believe possession is 9/10 of the law....soooo....I might not be the best option.

A buddy of mine does what you're describing on the regular, typically 3-5 years unattended storage. He swears by the Bull Frog line of rust preventative products. He applies liberally, and has had no issue at all.

And believe me....this is the only thing he does "liberally".

                    Clean the bore.
                    Oil the bore.
Light film of oil on the rifle.

And I store some in these in the safe.

You can also leave a small bowl of crystal kitty litter near your firearms.
Keep an eye on it. You will be able to see if you have a lot of humidity.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
