Experince at Down range chico yesterday

Well Down range (Chico ca) was having a 5 yr anniversary on Sat, free food & such. Glock would be present to have their guns tested for free, with a drawing for your choice of their HGs.

Plus, DR would let you try out all of there rental guns for free also, so wife & I added this to our own anniversary weekend.

1st off there was a line to get in, That was expected, & all those in line were very friendly. After we checked in, & sign in for drawings, we bought some ammo, & headed over to the glock side of the range. RO's were super friendly, even gave nice pointers to wife to help her out.

1st up was a glock 19. even though we could both shoot it ok, we quickly moved on to a Glock 19 with optic.. Now this was interesting, as I could hit center 2 rings with ease, on paper target they had up. Then we placed a shoot & see target up. For some unknown reason, I could only shoot low left of center..HUH. Wife didn't like that gun at all.

Now we move to Glock 17 with milled slide (for weight reduction). Now this one was the best of all of them IMHO. As wife an I both enjoyed that one the best, & shot it the most. Did not shoot the 10mm, oh well.

Now we move to other Indoor range were you could use there rental guns.

1st up we chose a SA full size 1911 (9mm) .. counter guy said the Kimber (full size) was the best, so threw that in as well.

Up first the Kimber (9mm). Well that was not the best IMHO, it would jam, & fail to load.. seemed the mag had an issue as if round was not fully seated in to mag, it (cartridge) would dip forward. Now all rounds when starting were fully seated, but continued to have issues... The gun did shoot straight when fired, & would bullseye fine.. but over all, a piece of junk IMHO.

Now to the SA 1911.. all I can say is WOW that was a tack driver, ran flawlessly, & continued to shoot into 2 inch dot.

Took those back, an retrieved a SA full size 1911 in 45 ACP. super nice gun, no doubt. But the 9s were IMO, much nicer, & shot much smaller patterns.

Well the place was now getting crowded, & many waiting for lanes, so we checked out with a big smile on both our faces...

May have to pick up one of those full size 1911 now

Still waiting to see if we'd won anything..fingers crossed

Seems like a cool experience and a fun way to spend an anniversary. The nicer Springfield 1911's look great, and I had been planning to buy one for years...then they joined and donated big bucks to the anti-gunners in Illinois in an attempt to screw over smaller FFLs. Pretty sad, as now I can't in good conscience do business with a company that would do something so vile. I also had plans for a nice M1-A, but obviously that won't be happening either.

I wish more ranges would hold these types of events

Glad to hear about your experience
