    Manners, Calguns, and You...

I've been on this website for a long time. I semi-frequently post stuff for sale. I'm also a career medical sales professional by trade. Here's how the dialogue usually goes.

I'm posting something brand new for $X. (A price I've already done research and made it an attractive deal compared to what it would cost new from a vendor)

    Here's the PM's I get:

"Ill give you 1/2X, got cash. LMK"

I will do 60%X, meet met 200 miles away.

I understand that everyone is looking for a deal, but my ask is you don't be a scumbag low-baller. No one appreciates that behavior. If someone is offering something for $200, don't offer them $100. Also, if you're looking for a great deal--try employing some tact and engage your brain--you will have better luck.

If you want to make an offer to someone, take the extra 20 seconds and say. "Hey I'm interested in BLANK, I know you're asking X, but would you be willing to take Y?"

You'd be amazed how far some manners and tact can take you in life. That is all. Rant Over.

Pretty much sums it up. Bought and sold many items here. Most if not all have been great smooth transactions.
But then there is the rude 50 off crowd. I dont even answer them I just delete the pm.

A valid complaint. My parents were like that with plumbers & repairmen & it always irritated me.
People like that think they're being shrewd. They're just being insulting & rude.

Tact isn't a trait a lot of gunners possess. Many of us are gruff and very frugal. I completely agree with your post and I'm sure people I've done business with her can attest to my bargaining abilities. That said I've had several very amusing interactions with people I have not conducted business with. I am a firm believer in getting more bees with honey than vinegar but you learn how things work and get used to it.

Exactly, being in Sales most of my life (Equipment) I enjoy the PLEASANT negotiating as much as the deal! Carry On....

I agree with the original post completely and it goes for outside the marketplace sales as well.

Sometimes something said innocently on the internet gets taken the wrong way (because reading isn't the same as speaking and listening to someone's demeanor) then people reply with a bad attitude, which then of course gets another bad reply in return etc etc.

The internet is not a place meant for fighting. Join a fight club / boxing gym and get some exercise if you want that.

That said, if you get sick of those type of responses and they really bother you you could try stating in your marketplace ads that you are completely firm on the price and you will NOT take anything lower.

That MIGHT cut out a few people who have to bargain but maybe that's for the best if those people really irritate you.

What I don't get is why there are so many here that seem offended or put out by these obviously troll offers.

It takes 15 seconds to read them and 0 seconds to not respond

To me worst is when “interested” is asking for gazillions of pictures, and after lengthy correspondence via email, text, planning meetings in various shops, at the last moment changing mind because...

                  Don’t bother responding.

Hmmmm....works both ways. All too often items are posted here at retail plus pricing and of course just 50 rounds down the pipe. Ya'know, you can just ignore those offers.

Oh, and BTW....you are a vendor too.
