I've been on this website for a long time. I semi-frequently post stuff for sale. I'm also a career medical sales professional by trade. Here's how the dialogue usually goes.
I'm posting something brand new for $X. (A price I've already done research and made it an attractive deal compared to what it would cost new from a vendor)
Here's the PM's I get:
"Ill give you 1/2X, got cash. LMK"
I will do 60%X, meet met 200 miles away.
I understand that everyone is looking for a deal, but my ask is you don't be a scumbag low-baller. No one appreciates that behavior. If someone is offering something for $200, don't offer them $100. Also, if you're looking for a great deal--try employing some tact and engage your brain--you will have better luck.
If you want to make an offer to someone, take the extra 20 seconds and say. "Hey I'm interested in BLANK, I know you're asking X, but would you be willing to take Y?"
You'd be amazed how far some manners and tact can take you in life. That is all. Rant Over.
