    French Foreign Legion guns

Does anyone know if the French Foreign Legion carries a sidearm? If so , what kind is it?

You are better off asking this question on militaryphotos.net. There are a lot international users on their forums. I would also suggest you brush up on your google-fu and do some searches.

Nice. I'm actually looking for somebody who knows anything about the legion. It is probably one of the world's toughest force out there. I'm not talking about the regular french army.

I googled it before posting and found the rifle they are carrying, but no mention of a sidearm.

Maybe they are so tough that when they get into pistol range, they don't need a gun. Their evil eyed glassy stare turns their enemy to jelly.

(that was also a joke, like my first post... incase you're feeling sensitive)

No Tony, you have it all wrong. They don't need a sidearm because of the smell, no one would ever get within range of them for them to use a sidearm

The Legion is a tough fighting force....Don't make the mistake of confusing them with the Regular French army.

That's like comparing rubber band gun next to a mini vulcan gun. They're both "guns" but one will just irrate you and the other will rip you a new A*hole.

The US got beat in that same place, does that make 'Nam era US troops any less tough? The Brits got smoked at Dunkirk, are Brit grunts not tough? The 1st Marine Division got beat back 50 miles to the sea from the Chosin Reservior, are these men not tough??

Them Legion grunts are tough as nails, and like these other fighting men, they just got beat with their boots on that day.

You gotta keep in mind that only NON French can serve in the Legion; ergo the "Foreign" Legion. As far as the smell of the regular French forces, you might be up to something. :-)
