I have never had a break in period for guns.

So as I sit here cleaning my garand i thought about how old this rifle is and how well broken in it must be.

Then it hit me, ive NEVER had any issues with my firearms during the supposed "break in" period. No FTF or FTE, no wierd double feeds or accuracy issues. Ive never treated a gun differently when it was new vs a used one.

I hear all the time of people having issues during their first few hundred rounds, am i just lucky or are people doing something wrong?

    I must be lucky too

No problems with any of my guns either... except when the G19 is limp-wristed.

I had some issues with Wolf ammo not ejecting in my OLL rifle, but it was only one box with softer than usual steel casings.

Obviously you aren't 'fixing' (read tinkering) them enough.

My Ruger PC-9 jammed at least once in every 10 shots for the first 200-300 rounds but has worked without fail since then. It's a great gun by the way.

Every gun just like any machine goes through a break-in period where metal to metal surfaces mate and smooth. It doesn't necessarily mean malfunctions, but every gun will cycle smoother after the first 500 rounds.

One of my TRS's was so tight when new that the slide was impossible to rack without taking the gun out of battery first. Nonetheless, it shot flawlessly and never bobbled through it's break-in.

                +1 on the PC-9

You obviously dont know me too well. I cant leave anything alone, it must be modified.

And yes i know things go through a break in, but im adressing the fact that people are having issues and attributing it to a break in period and the fact that i have never had issues during such a period.

All I do is clean my guns when i get them, light lubrication and fire away.

The only issue I had was with my XD-40 and a couple of Winchester white boxes when the gun was brand new. I would get a FTF about every 25 rounds. It has never failed to feed again, however I have never used Winchester white box again in that gun.

I had one FTF and one FTE (stovepiped last round) on the first mag out of my Sig.

Nothing else other then one FTF last time I went out (primer dented the same as the fired rounds). I attribute the FTFs to the ammo not the gun..

Just took it out of the box and started shooting, 150 rounds on the first trip, about 300 since.

One break in thing I did notice was it was a PITA to get the last round into the mags the first couple of times I loaded them. Now that the mags are broken in a bit more they go in pretty easy.

I have heard FTF used as both failure to fire and failure to feed? What is the correct terminology??
