Is it just me or is ammo just not there

OK went to go buy some 9mm ammo today. Went to five places and the store shelves are bare of almost ALL ammo. I know ammo has been hard to get for a while BUT to me it seems that since Obama has come in to office that it has become impossible to find.

What really sucks is I am going to Front Sight in September and need to have 800 rounds alone for that trip not to mention ammo to practice with before then.

Order ammo online. Buy in bulk. Look for free shipping/no tax. Most, if not all, places ship ammo to San Diego.

Too many times I've gone in search of ammo locally, only to come up empty. Or found ammo that was overpriced. Just wasted my time and gas.

        Cabela's has Feredal American Eagle 9mm 115gr FMJ @ $11.99/50rds right now...check that. It's backordered 1 week.

Miwall has it and a lot of it. Check with them at the next nearest show to you and be in line early. Just got 1k of 9mm brass reload for 190 even. Got WWB 5.56 for 10 per box, and a handful of deals from them. They got me 500 rounds of REALLY good .45 for dirt cheap too. Too bad the girl didn't understand the difference between HST from federal and Hydrashock.

I was out today looking for ammo. It was weird to see the shelves empty.

                  Have you checked lately?

I have. Everybody is sold out, with catch as catch can quantities coming in, and nothing is cheap.

It's not just a California thing--I was up in Oregon (Klamath Falls) for Easter and their Walmart's shelves were also empty except for calibers such as .22-250. My brother up there also reports common reloading components as unobtainium.

The ammo and reloading supplies shortage is an on going thread at gunboards.com. Obama is the best salesman that the arms merchants have had since Bill Clinton.

It isn't easy to find an assault rifle (at reasonable prices) even in states where they are still legal. The usual C&R dealers don't have many Russian Capture Mauser 98K rifles these days either...

I've been able to find ammo for my guns (.38special and .45acp) at www.ammunitiontogo.com ... but I think I've been very lucky. They only list on their site what they have in stock. I've gone back to check after I've received my order, and they were no longer listing the ammo I got. And I only ordered 100 rounds of each caliber. I think getting ammo from the big sites (able, midway, etc) is nearly impossible.

I have always been able to get a brick of 22LR at my local Big 5. They might be a little high but it's there. Not today. Empty.......

A few months ago when I finally ran out of .223, I never came across it at WalMart, so I'd always pick up some .45 and 9mm.

Now it's the complete opposite. I can find crates of .223 easily but am having a hard time scrounging up .45 and 9mm.
