    Hodge Road tips and tricks?

Hey Calguns. Heading out to Hodge Road for the first time this weekend (Sunday). Going to get there early morning around 8am to get a good spot. I was wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks or advice for me when I get there or what to expect?

Main concern is the "crazies" as I've been reading about. How far down the path to the north around the hill should I go to avoid the troublemakers?

Another thing, I'm driving (likely) a 2001 Crown Vic P71. Think that will handle the dirt well enough?

    Thanks ahead for the help.

The pavement ends and it's dirt roads and washes from there on out. Early morning is 545-6 if you want a good spot. Everyone will pack in around you as the morning progresses unless you can get out far enough to be secluded a bit. Earlier the better to pick the spot you want.
    Good Luck!

Thanks for that heads up. Might decide to head out earlier then just to get a prime spot. Might head further inland as well, away from the cell tower.

        I love these post.

Do your research, just 15 more min of a drive and you're out of Stoddard Wells and can shoot (Opposite side of fwy). And heres the big part - you wont be near gang members shooting, you wont have to worry about your safety and you wont be closer to 15 min drive time from the nearest shooter

Hint: Anything north/east of the 247 is still BLM and not considered Stoddard Wells.

        Hodge is dangerous and ghetto.

You're saying go east of the 247? Or INSIDE Stoddard Wells? I was told that area is reserved for off-roaders.

Be armed/carry when you reset targets, don't leave your stuff unguarded, watch your back and anyone casing you.

Should have said before: I'll be going in further down Silver Mountain road. Probably about 2000 feet beyond the long range spot.

Edit: I pm'd you vs. making this spot public.

Oh and there is just 1 simple rule: Don't turn this area into the next hodge road.

If I go to Hodge Road, it's on a weekday at 545 AM and I drive in a ways. I usually shoot for a couple of hours and head home. Haven't been on a weekend in years because of all the knuckleheads...

Make sure you make out your Will before you go. The place is 90% idiots 99% of the time.

If your Crown Vic is green with white doors, expect to come back with body damage, and it won't be from the dirt road.

I mean if you're really wanting to experience Hodge go for it, but there's a vast desert only a short distance north or east thats open to shooting. Essentially all the BLM land east and north of Barstow is open. I get that Hodge is closer, but as long as you got a pickup with a little clearance, thousands of square miles of desert are open to you. So for another 5 or 10 bucks in gas, you can shoot alone. Just use common sense and a hill for a backdrop.

is this the northwest side of 15? or southeast side?

cause north side is all private land. google map shows:

"Hodge road outdoor shooting area" which is all private land

                            Southeast side shows BLM

Sounds like Hodge is the new Lytle Creek of the 80s.
