All the FFL is required to do currently is check the ID for age verification of the buyer. That will change on July 1st of this year when they will process a DROS type check on a system CA DOJ hasn't even built yet (In other words nobody will be able to legally buy ammo for months or until a lawsuit for a temporary injunction goes in effect to suspend the law until DOJ does their "job")
