    Why is it

    that standard velocity .22 ammo is generally more accurate than high velocity, but this isn't necessarily true with center fire rifle ammo?

    Typically there is no transonic instabilities with center fire ammo at "reasonable" distances. .22 goes transonic at about 75 yds.

      Standard velocity .22 ammo is generally sub sonic and isn't effected by going through the sound barrier where high velocity does.

      Centerfire generally stays super sonic on the way to the target.
