I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...
Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

why are we still discussing this?Comment

If so, the department chief will be in big trouble with the court.Comment

You probably were out of touch recently, but Michel provided the legal opinion on the matter a few weeks back.I don't think that is "the consensus." It is some peoples' opinion, and you all may end up being right, but I am not so sure.
OP, I would not and do not use hicap mags in my BBAWs. The legislature never intended that to be done.
YES the law was poorly written, but "poorly written" in our opinion is little if any protection against prosecution.
It is up to you to decide your tolerance for risk. Mine is low.
You can always ask those lawyers who give legal advice here on CG for their black-and-white opinion on the matter. Michel and Associates come to mind. There are a couple more.
Ask them to put their name on the advice.
Keep us posted.Comment

Nope.
The users.
We write all these things on here and the DOJ reads them.
Then when they are sitting around in their "How to we screw the people" meetings, they see that everyone is excited about removing bullet buttons.
Guess how we get regulations against it...Last edited by ar15barrels; 05-01-2019, 11:28 AM.Randall Rausch

The question is clearly answered by the lack of any specific prohibition against using standard capacity magazines in registered AW's.
Or perhaps you don't realize that freedom is a lack of prohibition?Randall Rausch

BBRAW FAQ from DOJ/Becerra:
Assault Weapons and .50 BMG Quick Links to Topics General FAQs “Other” Assault Weapons Military Assault Weapons Bullet Button Assault Weapons General FAQs What is considered an assault weapon under California law? What are AK and AR-15 series weapons? What is considered a .50 BMG rifle under California law? Can assault weapons and .50 BMG rifles still be registered? I already paid the Dealer's Record of Sale (DROS) fee and went through a DOJ record check when I purchased the firearm. Does that satisfy the registration requirement?
#33: The owner should not shorten a rifle barrel below 16" or the overall length under 26" (Penal Code 33210 and Penal Code 17170).Comment

Which means most pinned folding or collapsible stocks can be unpinned on registered AW's.
It also means that there is obviously no restrictions on reconfiguring of assault weapons beyond the illegal DOJ regulations in regards to the registration process much the chagrin of those that would argue that an AW needs to stay in the configuration that it was when it was photographed for registration.Last edited by ar15barrels; 05-01-2019, 5:08 PM.Randall Rausch
