    Benefits of a VP9L (long-slide)?

This is for the true VP9 fanatics. Has anyone bought a VP9 long slide kit ? What are the benefits ? I did a lot of research and it seems to me that it just adds just a few inches which reduces muzzle rise and helps with recoil. Is it worth buying? Does the pros outweigh the cons? I mainly shoot .40SW and feel that the recoil system for the regular slide is good enough since I deal with one of the worst recoil system of .40SW? Just need some convincing to buy or not to buy...

It would reduce that recoil PLUS you'd have a 9mm upper to go on your 40. I bought the VP9L kit and its a tack driver for me.

The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.

I got it because I have a thing with long slide, and it looks good.

      Longer/Bigger the better

But honestly it does reduce recoil.

          1) Longer sight radius and therefore potentially more accurate to shoot
          2) More velocity from lighter loads
          3) More weight at muzzle to help tame recoil
          4) looks cool

it is much more accurate. felt recoil was less. I dunno if it was due to the recoil spring or balance of the slide.

the LS is actually slightly lighter than the original slide by 0.45 oz. however maybe the weight distribution is better?

Also, i think HK has switched to the 40 S&W recoil spring for the VP9 which could also mitigate recoil.

i only had two issues. 1st was stove pipe on the very 1st shot. I've only put about 300 rnds through mine.

the other issue, possibly a magazine issue, the slide didn't lock back on last round. I was using 15rnd mags with extension from HKParts. The OEM 20rnd mags worked well.

Oh, and had to re-zero, 3 clicks to the right.

It's the cuts in the front that make it the same weight that's one reason I feel that I might not get it. The weight is nearly identical but I do agree the sight radius and the length of the slide helps with shots, especially follow ups. I'll probably have to buy one and test everything myself, thanks for the info.

Right, the slide looks nice with the slots. however i dunno how i feel about it. makes sense for a competition gun, and that's what its for.

I think the SFP9-LS (not available here), does not have those slots.

VP9-LS come with adjustable rear sight, fiber optic front sight, lightning cut on slide, and o-ring on barrel = Awesome!

I'm never going back to the original slide on mine. The long slide is more accurate for me and it looks great!

Ended up having my Long Slide milled for a RMR.

                      Best of both worlds now.
