Where To Shoot? (SF Bay Area)

Does anyone know of good public land to shoot on easily accessible by those living in the San Francisco bay area? I know about Panoche Hills but it's closed until October.

    There isn't.

No one is going to give you specific info about their favorite places. History has proven that once it gets out, every Tom dick and Harry will end up going there and trashing the place leaving garbage everywhere. Then the place gets shut down because of idiots who can’t leave a place in better shape then when they arrived.
With that said, your best bet is to contact some ranger stations in areas that you might want to go, and ask them about places to go and not go. Make sure you follow all the rules and clean up as much as you can, even if it was left by someone else.

Highway 4 seems to be a popular spot.

Find the BLM office and call them.

I have been looking for the same thing for more than 20 years. It's a lot easier to make friends that have land than to find easily accessible public land here.

people that know farmers often have access to some private land to go shooting, I use to shoot on a farmers land that had a ravine that made a nice pistol range.

I don't think he's talking about shooting blanks into 60+ year old widows.

Oh for sure agree on the cleanliness thing. I always make it a point to clean all my stuff up and force all the people I'm shooting with to help out.
