    2009 increase in gun sales

    The local TV news (KGET Bakersfield) just reported that there was a 27% increase in the number of background checks for new gun purchases during the first three months of 2009 cmpared to the same time in 2008.

    Im BEGINNING to see things slow a bit.... I just went to a gun store and they actually had AMMO on the shelves- Any Caliber.... And choices for most.... Havent seen that in months.

      That's it?? I think that figure varies state by state and city by city. The increase around here I would bet is at least 100%, if not 200-300.

          http://www.classicarms.us/ currently has a fair assortment of AKs ready for purchase. So supply seems to be catching up.

          No idea about the AR backlogs though.

            There are some bigger global issues driving some of the AR problems.

                I'm seeing some ammo on the shelves most of the time at Walmart now where before the shelves were always empty.

                Couple days ago a range where I shoot had XM193 at $199/500 ($398/1,000) and .223 62 gr for the same price. Last month they were charging $439/1,000.

                    From my view, I would have said that sales have increased at least 50%, possibly even more.

                      The cheap shelf at Walmart is still empty. I talked to the sales lady and she said the horders are still there in the morning when they stock that shelf. Some dude dropped 1k on everything they put out one day a couple of weeks ago.
