Don't blame the legislators for this one. Prop 65 was a ballot proposition passed by the ignorant voters in this wretched state.

Which item are you trying to purchase? Seems like they just won't ship the optics to California.

The item you want only has to be labeled if it was manufactured in August if 2018 or later. This requirement has created a lot of merchandise in my store with this warning, even on sockets and wrenches. My opinion is that is might be too much of a warning and people will ignore them because it is on practically everything.
If the merchandise is important to you, just have a friend or family member, living outside California, order it on you behalf and then ship it to you?
Their are multiple law firms that do nothing but sue all steps in the chain of distribution and manufacture, relating to Prop 65 violations. Big box retailers have an agreement to force all of their vendors to protect them from any prop 65 litigation relating to the merchandise they sell.

I have run into this at ShopRuger.com. A Ruger-branded T-shirt I liked is not available for CA due to Prop 65.

I called them, and the kind lady I spoke with said items they source from some third parties may not have the Prop 65 label, which was the case with the shirt. She said it is up the manufacturer to comply, and Ruger itself has no choice. In short, it is not Ruger's fault.

I found another shirt I liked, and that one was shipped me with no issues. The wood grips I ordered for my Single Six are back-ordered, but will be shipped to CA.

Like the OP, I found quite a few items that cannot be shipped to CA. It's too bad because some manufacturers are missing a huge market. I also understand that it costs them CA's extortion.

HD won't ship showerheads to Ca, Amazon will because they have the warning on their site.

Yeah got the same response from Beretta. Needed to replace springs and followers for my m9 but they would not ship to California because they did not have the warning on the packaging from the Italian plant. Had to ship it to family out of state and have them mail it.

I have purchased several sets of rings with no problem. Also screws for rings. I have not tried to buy anything else.

Pretty sure the sticker the cancer warning is printed on causes cancer. They should warn us about the sticker with another sticker.

                    Probably written by some legislator.

I tried to buy some BX-25 and BX-15 10/22 magazines well into "Freedom Week" and was given the same malarkey at check out-no dice.
Bought them somewhere else with no issues.

You are aware that Ruger was one of the first to jump on the high cap magazine bans.
He spearheaded one back in 1989. He was one of the original supporters.

"On March 30, 1989, Bill Ruger sent a letter to every member of the US Congress stating:
"The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines. By a simple, complete and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines, all the difficulty of defining 'assault rifle' and 'semi-automatic rifles' is eliminated. The large capacity magazine itself, separate or attached to the firearm, becomes the prohibited item. A single amendment to Federal firearms laws could effectively implement these objectives."
                        William B. Ruger[9]

                        I refuse to support Ruger.

I typically despise a litigious society, but I would love to see a lawsuit against the state by someone that was harmed by a dangerous product because they equated the (actually) dangerous product with eating fastfood (which also has the stupid prop 65 warnings).

I've also suggested requiring prop65 warnings on the prop65 stickers.

I sell a product and the manufacturer sent me a bunch of stickers to add to the product, I asked him to politely send me the prop65 stickers that i can add to these stickers so people know that the sticker adhesive is dangerous.

He totally got it. i got a chuckle from him.

Funny, and most likely true. It is just crazy.
