Wife and I love trap shooting too, we used to shoot multiple times a week until my work got crazy busy. Both of us also do volunteer work as scorers and safety officers when the local club holds ATA or South Bay League trap shooting competition.

We'll try to head out this Fri too to get some trap shooting done. Been a while since we last shot.

An A5 "beating your shoulder" is the biggest amount of FUD out there. A properly set up A5 is the smoothest, softest shooting shotgun ever made. Anyone that wants to get rid of their shoulder busters, shoot me a pm. lol

First time I shot trap it was with my HD 870 Express w/ 18" barrel ... I hit about 50% of what I was shooting at. REALLY loud with that short barrel.

Got bit hard, found a 28" barrel, removed the mag extension, installed a should pad to make up for the shorter POL ... big grins.

Thinking about picking up a Mossie Maverick O/U.

Look into wearing a sweatshirt for your shoulders. A dedicated pad might help. I always get light surface bruising and my cheek hurts sometimes...

Browning a5' are gas operated and not known to have recoil issues. I also call fud from the unwashed.

They're long recoil operated, not gas operated. Their recoil is slightly strange to some people because of the feeling of the massive reciprocating mass, but it's certainly less sharp than, say, a break action gun.

Trap is a humbling experience for me: practice = ZERO, shotgun not set-up for it, clays go bye-bye FAST. Skeet I can do, trap...not so much.
