Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, and Underwood all make stompin' 1,100 to 1,300fps loads in the 200+ grain range.

+1 on the luckygunner chart, many major brands tested and listed with nice sortable chart.

Lucky Gunner tests more than 110 different 9mm, 45 ACP, 40 S&W and 380 ACP handgun self-defense ammunition loads in ballistic gel with analysis and video.

      .40 S&W Ballistic Gelatin Tests

Under-penetration was very uncommon for the .40 S&W loads. On the other hand, some of the bullets had trouble with the heavy clothing barrier, leading to expansion failure and penetration that exceeded the 32″ maximum depth of our dual gel-block setup. Many of the loads that did stay within the FBI 12-18″ range showed excellent expansion, sometimes nearly twice the original bullet diameter.

Personally, looking at the data I would choose Winchester Ranger Bonded 165 JHP

Emotional appeal is a marketing tactic and not a foundation for effective argument.

            that's something i've always done

after shooting my plinking ammo i generally finish up with 1 or 2 magazines of the HD stuff - im always concerned about cycling issues, especially with JHP ammo

i have a Beretta Cougar in 9mm and it eats everything, all my Beretta's seem to have zero issues with anything i feed through it - hopefully with this Cougar i'll have the same results

            thanks for the heads up
