April 5th Deadline and Remaining Calm and Dignified

It's been a long week. No one predicted anything that would happen, it was a roller coaster ride and many people, including businesses, flew from the seat of their pants based on available information. No one saw Bercerra demanding a stay before the deadline he himself set, and no one saw Judge Benitez issuing a stay with some limited protections.

Many questions remain, what will happen to my order? Does it depend on when something ships or when I receive? Is there any chance to receive after the order and remain within the protections outlined by the stay? Will the company I ordered from even ship after 5pm tomorrow.

My opinion is that anything can happen. Be prepared for some companies to back out, others to not ship, others to only ship what they can before 5pm.

The important thing to remember is that WE NEED TO REMAIN DIGNIFIED. Flaming companies out or judging them extremely harshly immediately looks extremely bad. Have some respect and realize that companies took risks along with their customers, and a Federal Judge has put forth some limited protections.

BE PREPARED for hurt feelings, anger, and confusion. Try and conduct yourself knowing that everyone is trying to figure things out in real time. For a company to even take orders was risky, so give them credit even if they are unsure.

Many companies didn't even try, and didn't expose themselves at all. You can argue money was to be made, but it took guts to risk anything at all.

Very well said. We were blessed to have this small won. Something I never thought would happen. I’d become very pessimistic about gun rights here. I thank god for this and for an amazing judge with some cajones.

Thank you for calming me down in my frenzy. Well said. My life will still continue if I don't receive my orders (albeit temporarily disappointed).

A weeks worth of freedom is not really freedom is it?

My cousin and I were talking about this earlier tonight. We're kinda glad that the deadline is up. In a panic buying frenzy, I spent way more money than I should have. Leaving the opportunity open with no actual end in sight, but with the thought of knowing there will be an end to it sometime, would've just stressed me into buying more and more and justifying it to myself. And I know that I'm not the only one on this boat.

I sincerely hope that this leads to a permanent ruling making the mag ban unconstitutional, either miraculously through the 9th or miraculously through SCOTUS.

I'm grateful to all of the hard work that fellow 2A proponents did to make this happen, to the Honorable Judge Benitez for making that whirlwind of a ruling, to the vendors who stuck their neck out on day one despite the legal risks that were relatively unknown, to the vendors who continued to jump on board as the week progressed, and to the active userbase of people here who maintained the spreadsheet and posted continuous leads to products when other leads dried up. I'm only 26 and I haven't been following the 2A world for more than maybe six years. So to me, it's always looked grim here in CA. But this was an incredible moment that gives me hope for a restoration of 2A rights in this state someday.
