Can I shoot 5.56 using 300 BLK PMAGs?

Hi all. I got one of several deliveries today. In my buying frenzy it seems 3x300BLK mags made their way into my cart by accident. Im thinking of trying to return them but if anyone has had luck running 5.56 through them I might just keep them. Thanks!

Well, I don't know. Im assuming though. These are Magpul 300 BLK mags. Not sure if the differences are purely cosmetic.

I don't think they would work well. Go to Magpul's website and watch their little video on these mags. Seems they've changed the internal guide ribs that keep the bullets stacked, and without them your 556 rounds might jam up.

Well, I picked up 300blk mags and wonder if I can run 5.56 through them. The opposite of what you are doing. Per the video link there are some internal differences, minor but maybe significant. Thanks for the link Kmai24.

Strip down your 5.56 upper, remove the firing pin, put it back together, rack a bunch of rounds through it. What's the worst that could happen?

This would be the easiest method. I've got no problem trying them at the range. But if I open the package I cant return them. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with these before I tear into them.

If you ordered them by mistake you'll have to pay shipping, so it might be worth trying one at the range. The Blackout mags are definitely different, but the differences are mostly near the front end of the cartridge, so .223 might work fine.

5.56 works fine for me in the 300 blk PMAGs.
