Maybe the Navy is different than the Army, we never had time to go shopping for anything when I wan in boot camp. After graduation, I went to AIT.

My sister lives in Chicago; The majority of Chicago area is still very anti-gun ... on my last visit, I didn't see gun stores, ranges or other gun friendly activities. I know there are some, but they are rare.

I am from Deepest Darkest Detroit, and I avoid Chicago as if it is full of Plague rats! As others have posted, there are no legal firearm activities that are allowed in 'Chi-raq'!

Of course you could always have a 'do it yourself drive-by', if the mood hits you!!!

To buy guns/ammo in Illinois you are required to have a FOID (Firearms Owner ID) Card issued by the state police.

The timeline for FOID issue when I was last in the state (2008) was around 30 days, and I'm sure it hasn't gotten better
