Any regret drinking the 300BLK koolaide?

Built an upper during the hype. Shot 50rnds for barrel break in. Can't say it was memorable enough to want to do again that 5.56, 7.62x39 or 308 has done for me. Anyone feel the same?

Yes and no. Bought a cheap 16"' barrel and ammo. shot well, quiet. Realized it's not a Kali thing. 300 blk definitely a SBR, Suppressor thing. Still together, haven"t shot it in some time.

      300 blackout

I built two uppers (pistol set-up); 8.5 inch and 10.5 inch long barrel. My plan was to shoot strictly sub-sonic rounds thru both. It was an interesting journey trying tune them to run reliably. Dialing in gas port sizes, trying out different buffer springs, buffer weights, BCG extractor set-up and so on was time consuming and a lot work. Of course, a lot of internet research was also done to see what others found will work for their set-up and application. Reloading data was also worked on to shoot heavy sub-sonic rounds; I ended up using 175 gr as minimum weight although 220 gr are my favorite. I love shooting them at short range targets (25 to 50 yards). Haven't shot my 300AAC BLK in a year or so but doesn't mean I've lost interest in them. To me, 300AAC BLK is just as interesting as my ARs, AKs and 308s.

I picked up two barreled uppers for my son and I: one keymod, one m-lok. Ends up my son doesn't like shooting 300 BO. Prefers .556 and .308. I haven't shot either of them in a year. I might sell off the keymod eventually. In the meantime it takes up room in the safe.

I have a 16" one. It's fine and cheaper to reload than 7.62x39. However like stated above, 300 Blk is best when out of a short barrel, suppressed and subsonic. 7.62x39 does better supersonic in the ~125gr variety.

I never saw the appeal of 300blk rifle with a 16" barrel and no can. I've seen it in action from a SBR with a can and the loudest thing I heard was the action spring and the bullet's impact on target. Too bad, I can't have one in CA.

The nice thing about changing your mind on 300blk is that you're only a barrel and maybe a gas tube away from another caliber.

I have an 8" pistol and a 16" carbine. Yes, it would be ideal to be able to have a can but I enjoy working up loads for both and with 150gr @2100fps it is an effective small/medium game round out to 150 yards. I find that it is a nice 30 caliber round that I can shoot all day, unlike 30-06 and 300 win mag.

It is a lot more fun in the pistol than 5.56 is.

IMO the 9-in SBR/pistol is the cats-meow for 300BLK running Barnes 110-gr TSXs.

If I lived in a free state I would have a suppressed SBR in .300 AAC as my primary home defense weapon. Here, it does nothing for me.

The thought has passed my mind. My build was a Kali legal 16in barrel with pistol gas and a large Krink style brake. I built it out of boredom looking for something to build for a spare lower. I have some 123gr ammo for it. I haven't shot in 2yrs. It sits in the safe and never gets considered when planning a range trip.
Just don't know what its good for.

I have a nice Winchester .30 carbine which kind of has similar ballistics so I never felt the need for one. Now that I am no longer behind enemy lines, I am thinking an upper with a integrated suppressor makes a lot of sense, especially since you can get away with only one tax stamp. I probably shot 150 rounds before selling mine. No advantage over x39 for me, in CA.

I love mine. But it’s also an 8” barrel and suppressed. I still have yet to run subs through it. I shoot supersonics and mostly use it for shooting pigs.
