Highway 50 unregulated shooting areas

Hello everyone, I have a question as the title may hint the subject, but first if this is not where I'd post about that, I apologize! Pretty new around here

I often go shooting on a spot off of highway 88 past shake ridge road, but the main issues that cause me to look for another area is that one ... snow blocking off access.. i dont have a truck or a lifted suv or winter tires LOL so sometimes I have to park way back from my usual spot and hike it but beside that, other issue is the shooting spot that I use is just pretty much far down on the side of a hill/mountain. This makes it quite difficult to bring many targets , because its a 30 degreeish slope a couple hundred yards down. Repeatedly making the trip to grab steel silhouttes kills me haha(maybe out of shape lol).

I say 50 because there are more spots in my opinion that my car can actually pull out off the road and park on, park on as in parking right where im going to be shooting so i can just grab my stuff from the trunk and not hike it lol.

Is there any places that are generally empty off 50 that are safe to shoot? Biggest thing is that it is somewhat flat lol.
I planned to just drive there and check out all the turn outs. I plan to go as far as "Kyburz". thanks all

You've got a low post count so I'll chalk it up to being new here, but no one is going to tell you their favorite NF land shooting spots unfortunately. They spell it out here and next thing they know it is full of people, shot up refrigerators, trash, etc, and in a couple years is closed off.

You'll have to do some adventuring, and verify you're good to shoot there on your own, or ask a friend for their spots.

I figured that to an extent that they wont give me exact gps coordinates, but! I was hoping for more of "drive along ___ road and you should find one that is legal to shoot". Usually I see icehouse mentioned often but thats about all I have seen in the search function recently. Tons of posts from 2006-2010 about shooting spots there but Im not sure if theyre still relevant.

Hey i actually know what one youre talking about though with the virtual shooting thing right? That one is nice i just dont remember the name. It had an archery lane!

You might want to call Tahoe National Forest and/or Eldorado NF and ask. They may be able to direct you to forest roads where you can shoot safely.

Given the enormous amount of snow and rain this year, some forest roads may be closed until things dry out. You'll need to be patient this year.

Remember, you cannot shoot from, or across any road or trail.

That is a great idea as well.

Sad thing is I really really enjoy shooting in the snow! Its just asking too much from nature to just snow in the forest and not the road and leave me space to drive LOL.

I usually would book that one under common sense but I don't blame you for saying it hahah.

Easy solution - make 3 or 4 friends on calguns to help you carry the steel.

Stop by a ranger station and ask where they recommend.

OP...think of this as an adventure...that is how I (and some friends) found our place on BLM land...go twice a year...

Get a general legal location and start exploring...when you find an area that you think is comfortable for you...that is an area legal to shoot...enjoy it and you now have your secret place....

Google Bonetti road. There's plenty of info out there already. Just don't trash the place.

I used to go to the Sly Park area and shoot when I lived up there. Really nice area, really open, and there are some great shooting spots. It's not BLM land, it's US forest, so when shooting was restricted on BLM, I was still able to shoot there. I'll give you the GPS coordinates of the spot I always went to.

Find Bonetti Road in Sly Park in Google maps and look for this spot. Only problem is Mormon Emigrant Trail, the road to get to Bonetti Road, is closed in winter, so you'll have to get there some other way, or wait until the road opens.
