How come? You think it's something beyond the shell stop or a rounded edge not catching the shell?Comment

To the best of my knowledge there is a spring behind the shell stop. At least there is supposed to be. Is yours still there?
Below are two threads from the Benelli forum that have a lot of pictures that you may find useful for reference. If you can't figure this out, I would also post your video on the Benelli forum. There's a lot of knowledge over there on the m4 specifically and they can probably figure out what's up with this.
Hi all, I had a request to do a detailed pictorial on the disassembly of the Shell Stop. Removal of the Shell Stop is the same for the factory and GG&G model. In fact, the GG&G model is simply a modified factory Shell Stop. Start out by unloading the weapon and setting the ammuntion away ...
Benelliwerkes, I figured you would probably have a bunch of experience with the shell stop of the Benellis. My shell stop has always been pretty stiff to press rounds past. This slows loading/unloading down. I've been doing some research on how to resolve this problem and found there are a few sc..."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

We need some background info, not to offend but since it was not made clear if this is your dear old Benelli or a new to you Benelli:
- do you know how to run a Benelli combat semi shotgun?
- has this shotgun ever worked properly in your hands, or did you just get it and this is happening?
The first thing I would do is remove the carrier latch and be sure the spring is present and seated correctly. Also, sometimes the carrier latch lip can be bent too far and you will have to bend it back if so. Some people try and tune it so the rounds are easier to load, but then they bend too far and the carrier latch doesn’t work until it is tweaked back the other way.
Also a possibility. I’d also pull the trigger pack and take a look to make sure nothing looks wonky or missing, if the carrier latch inspection produced nothing. OP never shows us if his shell release works, even though he manages to get some shells captured at the end.Last edited by SkyHawk; 03-08-2019, 11:01 PM.Comment

This usually happens when the trigger group has been removed and then re-installed improperly.
When you are installing the trigger group, you need to be holding the shell stop back so that the lever on the trigger group gets behind the shell stop.
If the fire control group lever gets in front of the shell stop, the shell stop does not work correctly and you get the exact result shown in the video in the first post.
I got an M1s90 around 10 years ago for $600 off the used rack that was assembled wrong.
Gun appeared unfired.
My guess is that the original owner disassembled it, reassembled it wrong and then could not get it to work correctly so they either consigned or sold it to the shop I bought it from.Last edited by ar15barrels; 03-10-2019, 9:32 PM.Randall Rausch

Shotgun is relatively new and the trigger group has never been removed but I appreciate the response and will make note regarding your advice. Thanks! This usually happens when the trigger group has been removed and then re-installed improperly.

Thank you for all the info. Yes, I am familiar with this system but fair question. This shotgun ran flawlessly until my most recent outing. It was not disassembled or modified in any way. Literally, one outing to the next, bam.Comment

Lock the bolt to the rear and look at the shelf stop. Pinch it to see if you have spring tension. Insert a round with the bolt locked back and see why the shelf stop is not doing it’s job.Comment
