    Need help

I am looking for information about a rifle model that was sold in CA many years ago. Customers bought it and then CA DOJ forced the dealers to have to call customers that bought them because the barrel was too short or something like that and they had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be retro fitted.

Can anyone help me with my memory. Happened about 10 years ago.

I don't recall that with a rifle, but the same thing happened with the walther P22.

It's been more than 10 yrs, but I remember Uzi barrels were to short for overall length in Ca.

While not a rifle, the early M1014 version of the Benelli M4 (with a US Flag embossed on the receiver/special edition) with it's "slightly collapsible" stock which was never really less than the overall length, caused Bill Lockyer to give an opinion he "didn't like" the skeleton stock because it wasn't fully fixed (it could turn and move inward by about 1/5th of an inch).

However stores like Turners and its previous owner were loving the FUD and honoring it with religious passion, and in light of Lockyer's phobias, HK released a comment on it that they would replace the stock with a regular shoulder butt if requested.

As ar15barrels pointed out, Walther P22s came in with threaded barrels, had to be replaced.

It happened with the gsg mp5 sd. the atf classified the barrel shroud as a suppressor and the manufacturer issued a recall. I don't know if the FFL's got involved.

IIRC, it was when Deukmejian was governor. A guy had one of those SKS with a detachable magazine; he registered it and the DoJ said it was okay. Later on, they reversed their decision and the guy had to surrender his rifle to the authorizes.

I had a Sig 556 when they were back on the market post OLL (around 2006/07 from memory) and it was too short because it had a folding stock. FFL replaced a factory fixed stock from memory. Wasn't a barrel issue.

Not just one guy. Every one of them were part of a mandatory buy back program and had to be turned in, no registration allowed because that date had passed.

IIRC, a bunch of Evans sealed magwell AR pattern rifles had to be returned to be remanufactured(restamped!) because those lowers were actually onlist.
