Yep, my experience with Rugers is that they've all been very good guns for the money, and are often the best you can get in their price range (like the P series handguns).

Lots of people are mad at Bill Ruger Sr (who's still dead, FWIW), but no matter what you think of him, there's no doubt that he was one of the greatest firearms designers of the 2nd half of the 20th century.

I get a kick out of the anti Ruger people. I'll never understand gun snobs. Like Ruger is the only gun company that did something to hurt the cause. Rugers are fantastic self defense pistols. At least as reliable as anything else out there for half the price. The triggers aren't match grade, but we're talking about self defense pistols here. A two minute job of changing a $2 spring makes it a lot nicer.

Bill Ruger's attempted compromise with gun banners: trying to protect firearms ownership, or his own business? You decide!

Either way, I think we should try to remember the guy for his firearms, not for his politics. He's dead anyway, and the guns are what they are. If you like one, buy it. If not, don't. Boycotting Ruger firearms is like hating AK-47s because terrorists use them.

Yeah, they're ugly, but so are Glocks, and that doesn't stop a lot of people from buying them! Eyes of the beholder, and all that.

Now, the Ruger MkII series .22s are good looking guns.

Yah, maybe they could reinvest the money in retooling for their double action revolvers so they would work properly out of the box, or hire some customer service staff that actually cared about customers. Or maybe get some chamber reamers that actually cut chambers to the proper specifications.
Hope they never need to order parts. That could take a LOOOONG time.
