Thoughts after an Active Shooter Incident

Thought I'd like to share with you guys here:

I was about to leave work the other day, but instead sought to get some work done. About 5 minutes after one of my co-workers left we learn that at the end of our dead-end street (about 2 or 3 business away at the intersection) there was some guy randomly shooting then sought refugee in his van. Almost two hours later and a dozen cop cars (some shots fired), they apprehend the guy. The area is near a pre-school, too.

Perhaps the most ironic part is that I was denied a CCW from Alameda three days prior to this.

For all you CCW out there, just remember you never know when you're gonna be the first responder.

Be sure to report this to the official that denied you.

More reasons to leave California immediately. The life you save may be your own.

Being in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm is now a felony. Wow.

Wrong. It is a misdemeanor or felony, depending on certain other conditions. It is not automatically a felony.

Please do not take this as an anti CCW statement, because it absolutely is not. If an armed citizen happens to be in the position of intervention during an event like this please make sure you have enough situational awareness that you may be mistaken as a bad guy by responding officers and adjust your plan accordingly, accounting for their arrival etc...
Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

Personally, unless MY life or MY family is immediately in danger of death and/or grave bodily injury - I will NOT draw! Especially here in Komiefornia...

One must ALSO be cognizant of the aftermath... Always!!!

A recommended course is from "Uncle Scotty" (ITTS): http://internationaltactical.com/civilianactive.html (this is one of the best classes I have taken)

                Agreed!

This is also one of the subjects touched in the ITTS class I have mentioned above...

Additionally, for reference (which was introduced to us in the class):

                Cheers,
