Moving to California and I have issues

I am probably moving to the Fresno area for work from Washington ( CA Native ) . Engineering manager role in the wine industry. Good job. good pay , low cost of living , really good weather compared to where I'm coming from blah blah blah.

Anyway I have a bunch of SBR's and Silencers . Sig Rattler SBR, 45 cans, 22 cans, 30 cal cans, AR SBR's etc. At least a hundred mags. Threaded barrel pistols etc. I dont have any family members who I would either want to have this stuff or would trust with it and the likelyhood I'd want to drive out of state to go shooting it is pretty slim. This is going to be a permanent move.

What do I do with all this stuff? I'm not sure just keeping it a safe and keeping my mouth shut is that much of a valid option. Any possibility to make the SBR's pistols in CA? It doesnt seem like it.

Can I bring AR receivers into the state at least if I strip the parts off the registered SBR lowers? I'd hate to trash them. The ATF doesnt consider a lower to be an SBR unless its built as an SBR even though the tax stamp is paid. I dont know what I'll do with the silencers.

Congrats on a new job. Hope it all works out for you. Having most of your stuff in CA is going to be really problematic.

Can you drop a safe in a family members house to hold them that only you have the key for?

They could use it all they want under a trust but i'm pretty certain I wouldnt be travelling much to shoot the stuff. Ive got two brothersin WA. One with a *****y wife who doesnt let guns in the house and another that I wouldnt trust with guns because of his really autistic son so its really not much of an option. My oldest son flaked out on me a few years ago and actually turned guns that I had given him in to the police to be destroyed because he was mad at me...seriously...so he gets nothing .

Yeah that's real helpful and does nothing to solve the NFA issue the OP is talking about.

OP seriously I think your best bet as much as I hate to say it, is to sell everything given your statement's, and situation. The chances of lawfully possessing any NFA item in Ca by nearly any individual is about zero. Way too much risk in bringing any of that stuff to Ca, for no pay off.

I know. Selling NFA is hard to do though unless its a Machinegun. I may just part them out. The receivers I'm reasonably sure I can take with . Theyre just receivers. I think. The silencers I guess I could just do a fire sale price on them.
The pistols I can just throw regular barrels on and bring with.

The AR pistols. Whatts the deal on those in CA? Some kind of single shot rule?

The guns are really the least of my worries. Ive got a lot more tied up into this thing and it would NEVER pass DEQ.

Damn couldn't your son sold it to get money out of it instead [emoji23].
Man, if you know u will be living here in Cali for a long while u might want to sell most of your fun toys unfortunately. Don't want to take a lot of chances of bringing it here.
Or like someone mentioned, open up a safe deposit account and store them there for a while until u can figure things out.

Couldn't u buy a safe and store them in your buddies house the one with the Autistic kid?
Only u will know the combo. Unless he knows how to use tools to cut open the safe

Yeah I know. I had given him a few guns one of them being a SBR and the little dweeb turned them all in to get destroyed. I managed to talk the sheriff into giving me the SBR back but the rest they wouldnt give me. He lost all son privileges at that point. I do have another kid who's not so much of a dip***** but he's only 19. I think he muight be staying in WA so that is an option if I keep the stuff locked up in his place. Washingtons gotten weird on transfer rules with minors lately so I'd have to check on the legalities of that.

Pre 76 should be good to go without smog BS. Sweet ride. Even though it ain't a Mopar.

Seems like the cheapest and easiest option would be:

                              - rivet the mags to make them CA legal
                              - Buy a small safe to keep at the brothers house (the one with the autistic son) to store the suppressors, threaded barrels and sbr parts. Even if the autistic son somehow figured out the combo, there’s not a whole lot of damage he can do with cans and barrels. There’s certainly more deadly stuff in your brothers garage or even junk drawer.
                              - buy non-threaded pistol barrels and bring the handguns with you (or even bring the handguns into CA with no barrels and replace with new barrels as needed)

And what wine company will you be working for? I have a buddy in IT at wente and another working at Gallo. Not sure what the gallo guy does, but I think it’s marketing related. he even travels to Europe to view different size and shaped wine bottles to see which would be more appealing to the consumer.
