    First time

Picked up my hk53 with registered sear yesterday
Swapped sear into a vector clone (hk is worth a lot of money)
Stepped off my backyard porch and aimed at some rocks
Pulled off a couple of rounds in semi
    switched the fun switch
did about 5 three round bursts
    Let the rest ride.

First thoughts after my giddy giggling
This gun was easy to hold on target in full auto
I did not perceive any muzzle climb (I am sure there was some), but it was a very smooth gun to shoot.
I don't see how it is a waste of ammo, it was like shooting a semi in Full semi auto mode.

    That is all!

Sounds like lots of fun and learning a firearms capability is rarely or never a waste of ammo !

Did I read it right that to make an NFA gun, you only need to swap the sear ?

sear is the NFA part with a serial number and registered. What ever you drop the sear into has to have full auto bolt carrier, and what ever else makes it go rat a tat tat

Machine gunners are not known as precision marksman from what Ive observed !

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Way cool. I Tried to get a registered auto sear back in 84 when i turned 18 before the laws were changed .But living in Cali i could not . I then tried to get some of my out of state family members to get a few. No luck .They all thought i was nuts .. Would have been a nice investment if you look at the prices they go for if and when they do come up for sale ..

Nothing wrong with aiming at rocks. You've been on my private range. I have about 20 steel plates but hundreds of rocks sized 3" to the mountains behind my property. It's cheaper to use rocks as a target and makes shooting a lot more fun and challenging since you need the skill to determine the size of the rock, the distance to the rock, and the wind direction. Any JAbroni can hit a paper target at a typical fixed distance on a public range. Plus it is fun exploding boulders with 50APIT that would damage plates. Even 50bmj ball ammo knocks my plates over at 200 yards or breaks the hangers so we shoot rocks with it at distances under 400 yards.

I've seen the OPs property. He has lots of rocks in his back yard since he backs to a mountain but way more room to build a much bigger gun course than mine. It just takes time to build and rocks are free.

It takes lots of accomplishment to identify each individual target rock, while firing upwards of 700 rounds per minute! Just holding steady from standing with a full auto weapon requires great physical strength along with superior eyesight to identify each little crevice, crag or color of a 3 inch rock and not mis identifying a NON target rock!

Compare that type of marksmanship to an individual rifleman punching paper from field positions, which are standing, sitting,Prone or kneeling and one can truly appreciate the skill of machine gun shooters !

Calgunners are encouraged visit machine gun ranges. We travel almost yearly visit to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot where MG are are available for rent and where they offer many different friendly competitive events including, pistol, rifle , shotgun and many more sub classes for each discipline.
