Engraving

Looking to get a rifle or pistol engraved. While my brothers and sisters are getting tattoos, I want to have a gun engraved in memory of my Dad. Looking for tips on what kind of gun, rifle or pistol would look best. My Dad was not a shooter so type and cal is not as important on how the engraving will look. I am thinking a fishing pole with a few letters "POP" written in the casting line and dates. I have never had a gun engraved and am looking for tips. I am in Norcal if someone knows a good shop. Thank you all in advance.

I have used P&L in SoCal, he did great work, was reasonably priced, and is an FFL07.
