I used CFARS to register 2 C&R rifles (Enfield MkIII and a Romanian SKS) on 3/1/18. It took them until mid-January 2019 to update them saying they wanted pics of the SKS. I submitted the pics the next day. A few weeks later I received 2 confirmation letters in the mail. The status on CFARS is STILL 'In Progress'.
I registered 2 more C&R rifles in December 2018 using the old method of mailing in a BOF961 form and the $19 fee. I received confirmation letters for those 2 in January before the Enfield and SKS submitted online. I'm sticking with the old method.

So what’s the deal with it staying in progress If you received your registration letter? I’m pretty sure mine said completed but now it’s back to saying in progress.

Did you ever get an email saying they were completed or letters on the way? I don't want to keep hoping a letter magically appears if there is no email.

They send out letters saying "Approved" when all is complete.

I've never heard of any CRIS entry of any kind changing status past "in progress". Volreg, OPlaw, AW, C&R acquisitions. All get letters, but they don't bother updating the website. Yes it's ridiculous to have a status that is meaningless.

Mine never changed from In Progress and I received my letter months before the deadline.
