Maybe a local ffl can ship usps for you and save you some money. Ask around. UG imports is up there. Or shipmygun.com

I've sent my SP-01 to CGW, via FedEx, was about $50 two day air. UPS is comparable on the 2 day air. Don't believe the hype regarding next day air.

        That price seems more reasonable.

I was under the impression that firearms had to be shipped overnight

I tried looking on the websites for both, but it looked like it was going to cost over $150 to use UPS. That didn’t seem right to me.

Can anyone who has had to ship a pistol across the country tell me what it costs?
An FFL holder can ship a pistol via USPS.
USPS won't accept handguns from a non FFL.

UPS and Fedex typically requires pistols to be shipped overnight because the overnight packages spend less time in sort facilities where they can be stolen by employees.
That's the main reason that the carriers require you to ship overnight.
There is no law of any sorts requiring overnight shipping.

You might call and ask CGW; their website estimates shipping costs at $40.

This, have used Shipmyguns for shipping handguns and some without issue other than making sure the receiving FFL is registered with them, most will go ahead and register though. Check their rates, get the freebie FedEx box slap the shipping label on the box, go to the Customer Service Center walk in, pass the line to the counter, say it "prepaid and I have photo of the shipping label (for tracking number) then just walk out.
