i`m interested in buying some of the weapons i see on this site.what do i have to do?do i have to go through a ffl if its a person to person sale?can i just pay cash and pick up the weapon,or are most sellers afraid of doing things that way.i`ve bought guns and rifles from dealers and private parties before but i want to know how it`s done on calguns.net.if a seller is willing to sell without going through a ffl is that legal?help me out on this please.thanks.

It's not that we're "afraid" of doing things that way. It's against the law in California, and we're law abiding, so we don't do it. We certainly wouldn't talk about it on a public board where LEO's contribute regularly.
If you want to buy something off the for sale forum, the seller will either specify some FFLs close to him or you work out an FFL that works for both of you. If you propose to sell it without going through an FFL, you will be suspected of either being a criminal or being an undercover cop trying to solicit an illegal sale.

Except for a few circumstances - e.g. from father to son or rifles 50 years old and older - ALL firearms transfers in California MUST go through an FFL.

It's not calguns you need to understand....
It's not calguns you need to understand, it's the CA and Fed laws regarding the sale and purchase of firearms that are crucial to understand. Calguns is just an ad service (so to speak) where you can locate firearms for sale.
There are tons of threads here that cover "how tos" for the proper and legal way to handle firearm transactions, of all types - handgun, long gun, "evil gun" (AR-15 types), collectable and relic (C&R) guns, etc.. Each category has its own restrictions and requirements.
In general all transactions, whether between a dealer and private party, or PP to PP, must take place through an FFL licensee. Some guns can be transferred immediately (i.e. long gun P-P), others must go through the 10 day DROS/waiting period, etc.
Do some searches here and on the CA DOJ or NRA Web sites for more details.

Move out of state, to a free state that allows personal freedom.
The only freedom in CA is gay sex, everything else that is fun is banned.
We are the only state in the union with high property taxes (mostly due to the value of property so that 1% typically equals 10% of a persons income to pay for the propertys tax on a house), high income tax at nearly 10% of your income, and nearly 10% sales tax.
Most states have one of these, some have two of these, only CA has all three and is still broke due to entitlement programs where people get money for free like the most gracious retirement programs in the nation for state employees who would get fired if they worked in the private industry.
The only thing we have going in CA is the weather, else everyone would leave in a great stampede.Comment
