    Blue dot/2nd amendment safes

I'm in the market for a safe, and these look pretty good. Can't find a lot of info online, has anyone had any experience with them? Is there something else I should be looking at for the same price and size?

    Can't decide between these two.

      Am I missing something?

Specifications for safes that don't include sheetmetal thickness are worthless.

I think they are made in China. If so, probably the same safe as 20 others just with a different name.

Look on Craigslist also. I found a Fort Knox that was the same model as one I own. It was in very good condition and priced at 1/3 of a new one. Even with the fees from the safe movers it was a great deal.

Actually, yes! I have and use a blue dot safe. I knew I couldn't spend 5G's on a "how difficult do you really need to make it" safe, but wanted something better than a wally world special. I mostly compared it against the equivalent costco alternatives at the time, Big Horn and Sports Afield. The blue dot was heavier, had a better fire rating, and more locking bolts. Fit and finish is about the same. I have a family member with a Big Horn from costco with the nearly identical dimensions and he is quite jealous of the door organizer. I also chose mechanical over digital lock. I am very happy with my safe.

I went through a local locksmith and got a better price than the bluedot website.

I have a Blue Dot safe. Got it here on Calguns about 5 years ago on a group buy. I have the one listed for $885. I have it with a mechanical lock. I couldn't be happier with mine. And I believe they are made here in CA.

Tip, if you buy from them you can choose your own combination and they will set it for you.

I'd say any safe is better than no safe, if you like it just buy it.
A guy told me one time "don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat from around the corner"

That's where I'm at now, any safe is better than no safe, and I can't pay several thousand so I'm just trying to get the best bang for my buck. So far the blue dots seem like the thickest steel and best fire rating at the price.

The other one I've come across is the Liberty USA 48. Same steel as the blue dot, a little lower fire rating, but priced at just under $1000 with similar size to the larger blue dot.

Do you mind sharing how many long guns you have in it or how many you can see it fitting?

I have aprox 10-12 rifles standing in it, it gets crowded since they almost all have optics (except the shotguns)....and on the top shelf I use pistol hangers (Like these https://www.libertysafe.com/accessor...-15-pg-61.html ) and have 12 or 14 pistols. And I still have ALL the other shelves free for accessories and mags etc.

If you want, pm me your email and I'll send you a couple pics.
