    Finally did it @50yrs old

I’ve owned almost every type of air gun, non-lethal pepper guns, and tasers. Many of my Busse knives and competition paintball markers cost more than a glock. I’ve gone to the range about twice a year and have taken a handful of classes.

But finally convinced the wife to let me keep firearms in the house after some more local crime in our area (bank heists, burglaries/break-ins).

The “just in case” argument finally sank in. Now to get her safety training and lots of range time.

Happy at 50 to finally exercise my 2nd Amendment (just have to wait 30 days between guns - already have a few on order as I “trade up” my collectible Busses for Glocks). Went with OD Glock 19 as first companion.

Congratulations, glad to have you aboard, exercising your second amendment rights.

And the Glock 19 is a great place to start as well.

Even if you can't get her go shooting as much as you want there's no doubt in the fact that like fire extinguishers it's better to have a gun and never need it, than need one and not have it.

Welcome aboard and nice you sacked up. I've always had guns, but since my wife got her carry license, SHE'S got all my guns.

Note to self: Time to buy more guns.

Congrats and get practicing as a gun is worse than worthless (and way less fun) without building your skills up.

Do yourself a favor, buy a gun safe or lock box. Don't play with it all the time in front of the wife.

Take her out shooting and make sure that she uses earmuffs, buy her her own set of ear and eye protection, pink works. Start with the target at 3-5 yards and let her see positive results from her first efforts.

Congrats man. Welcome to the forum.

I bought my first firearm 2 years ago. My wife and I have been going to the range almost once a week ever since. It immediately became an activity we share and both love. My wife loves to shoot. She's pretty damn good shot too.

Fast forward to now. I own several guns. I shot my first USPSA competition about 2 weeks ago and I'm about to buy a press to start reloading.

                          I LOVE TO SHOOT!

Good deal, Tom. The Glock 19 is a great start, and should be fairly easy for your wife to handle.

One thing I would suggest is that she obtain an FSC. They study materials can be found on-line at Ca DOJ, and there is a practice test. The material is mostly common sense stuff, but it is excellent stuff to know, for safety's sake.

My wife supports my shooting, and always asks how I did at the range. She's getting interested in shooting my new Ruger Single Six .22. Once she gets her FSC, we'll be going to the range.(it has taken time to get her interested, rather than be fearful)

Take it slow, be safe, and have fun.

If you have not done so, please join the NRA and/or CRPA (California Rifle and Pistol Assn) and actively support your 2A Rights.
