REVOLVER QUESTION! WhatsThis?

Was cleaning out the safe and looking at a few revolvers that I have. I never shoot them, but I take them out from time to time too admire. I then notice a smug or mark on two of them and do t know what it is or how I can get it off.

Both of these revolvers mean a lot to me, so I would like to try to fix the problem.

Fix the problem by going to the range and shooting them extensively

Where at? The face of the cylinder (where the cylinder meets the barrel)?

Check out robar , looks like you want it refinished from what I'm hearing could go two tone get the cylinder in np3 plus Leave the gun frame and barrel black .... Would be the cheapest that way if the cylinder is only issue area

In the first two pics it looks like holster wear and/or nicks from use. Judging by the drag line on that gun it has been used a lot - maybe someone's old duty gun? Personally I think they add character and aside from some very light polishing with some Fitz on a piece of soft cotton T-shirt I'd leave it alone. Just light polish, then wipe down 2 - 3 times a year with light oil. Only other option would be a total refinish and unless you send it to someone really good you will be disappointed with the results.

I don't see anything on the second gun unless it is the smudge mark on the edge of the cylinder. Try the Fitz on it, but not too hard because t hat one looks pretty good to start.

If you don't take them out often you might get a couple of silicon socks to store them in.
