      There is no teacher but the enemy. No one but the enemy will tell you what the enemy is going to do. No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you where he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you. -Mazer Rackham, "Ender's Game"

          [QUOTE=Jak Nobody;22622574].22 Short, Long, and LR.[/QUOT
          Interesting, after looking it up, these were made in S/L and L/R after the 1st year of production. Initially they were 22 short only. Great piece of history. it also said this gun was a favorite of Theodore Roosevelt's kids.

                  My first firearm - a Remington Model 514 (single shot, bolt action, .22 short/long/LR) manufactured and purchased in 1958.

                      My Winchester 1897 was made, if I remember correctly, in 1906. Nothing else I have is older than 1943.
                      eta: I checked my notes and its 1908.

                            Oldest that I don't- some old French pocket flintlock pistol. It would probably fire, bit I don't have any desire to tempt fate with that thing.

                                1989 30-40 Krag that was reworked into a carbine by the DCM or Bannerman in the 20's or so.
