LAW Tactical folding AR adapter, do you like them?

I am talking about this deal right here for those who don't know what it is:
The first and only folding stock adapter compatible with all AR platform rifles. The Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapter works with direct impingement or gas piston systems and fits any A2, carbine, mil spec or commercial buffer tube and stock

I am in a free state and building up my truck gun from a cheap PSA build kit.

The adapter costs 2/3 of what the barrel/bcg/upper and parts cost.

Pro is I can keep my AR pistol it in a backpack in the trunk.

Con is the cost and perhaps it makes the rifle less reliable?

    What are your thoughts?

Curious too. I went with a low profile collapsible brace to help me reduce overall length. But been wondering about these adapters as well.

I have one on a pistol and enjoy it. Con is definitely the cost but the convenience of being able to store it in a lot of tucked away positions is ideal to me.

      Buy once cry once.

Also had one for a bit on my Factory MK18 upper, Aero Precision lower AR pistol. Gun never had any issues at all. Ran steel cased, .223 & 556 ammo reliably.

Was nice and convenient for transportation. Removed and sold it because I thought I was doing my "clone" build a disservice. Kind of regret it now.

I put one on the AR Pistol I use to have, reliability was unaffected and it was great for transportation as I was able to fit it in a tiny discreet racquet bag, but for me I noticed the weight shift to the rear since the folding adapter was half a pound and I had such a short barrel up front, threw off the balance and I took it off.

No problem with reliability with steel ammo. High quality, durable, really cool. Downside is that it takes an extra second or two to be ready to fire since you have to unfold the buffer tube holding your stock or brace. It also obviously adds about two inches to your pistol/SBR when unfolded.

There's also the Deadfoot Arms modified cycle system. It's about $200 more expensive and involves a modified full-auto BCG. However, it allows you to fire a direct impingement AR in the folded position, which is pretty unique. Don't know about its reliability.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

A better, but more expensive, solution is to get an MCX.

Exactly the same reason I got one and it works well. If the cost weren't a factor I would end up with more of them on my rifles.

I looked at one of these when I was deciding on a chassis but the MDT Tac21 has a removable stock which was fine. Now I'm no expert in R&D and what goes into designing one of these but man it seems like a price gouge. Literally Ruger could cut down their RPR style folding stock and sell that for 60 bucks and I would get it. Not to mention the other integrated folding stocks.

Great product, good design, price gouging price IMHO.

I have one on one of my pistols. For me it’s a bit of a novelty as I don’t really transport the pistol much. But it’s a cool feature for sure and I don’t think for me, there is a downside other than cost.
