    Pawn shop gun sales

I'm always on the lookout for a gun "deal" at a pawn shop. So far I've never found any deals that great and have not purchased from a pawn shop.

What I wondered is is there any type of legal standard of quality for a pawn shop to sell a gun?

I guess basically what I am asking is how do you know you're not getting a faulty gun?
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

The last time I had faith in the News was when it was with Huey Lewis.

i doubt they are under any legal obligation to guarantee the worthiness of a firearm - it's probably on your shoulders to know

remember, the firearm most likely was obtained through a pawn deal with a customer and the shop owner probably has no idea of it's back history

I've bought two guns from a pawnshop. The first was new Glock 26 and the other, a 1970 10/22 in near new condition. I was always stopping in back then because it was the only place to get 22lr at the time so I had built a relationship. I also did no hassle cheap transfers there.

Nope up to you to make sure it’s in working condition before you buy it, though inspection is a must. Pencil test is a good idea to make sure it has a firing pin and it’s working.

I’ve only bought two guns at a pawn shop one was a cheapy Taurus PT22, the other was a very clean, excellent condition Browning High Power Practical I got for a steal $560.00.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

During the 80's in downtown San Jose, I wasted time trying to find deals in pawn shops. They were usually 30% or more over FMV - in my mind.

            Never bought anything from them.

Pawn shops are the BEST gun stores.

No lines, no hassles, and if you do have a relationship with them you can bargain with them. plus their distributors can for the most part get you anything any other FFL can get you.

Lambert Pawn is awesome for everything FFL. I'm not a glock guy but they have some Zev's in there.

I've bought several guns from a pawn shop. One of the guns was a fairly expensive Springfield that I picked up for about half the new cost. Second trip to the range it launched the guide rod down range. I doubt the pawn shop knew there was an issue but Springfield warranty fixed it at no cost.

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

Does anyone know of any pawn shops in the Bay Area that sell guns? All the ones I've seen mostly just sell jewelry and electronics.

Usually say "Guns" on their windows. San Jose had several downtown in the 80's and 90's. When Beretta 1934's were selling for $300 - they wanted $500 for them. Prices never seemed reasonable to me and they refused to budge an inch. I guessed they were just waiting for suckers. Never lucked into a deal with them.

Its up to you to know what you're buying. Of course this is the day of the interweb, where you can leave a plethora of bad reviews. So one would hope that's some incentive not to pull one over on you.

I've bought from 2 pawn shops. Both were great experiences. The guys were fun to chat with, no typical gun-store attitude, and I got good deals.

I practically stole a new M9A1. They couldn't verify the round count, if any. Having an M9A1 already, I know the wear patterns to look for. What they had was bnib and way under priced. I took it.

Carson Pawn and Alamo Pawn are both good to go!
