I have a Saiga 12 with a mag lock on it. Lately, I have been taking it to my local range. When I do, I run the gun lock through the mag well out in front of the bolt and through the trigger guard. Of course the mag is removed. I don't carry any ammo and I buy the ammo at the range.
I thought this was a safe and "legal" way to transport my Saiga. However, I read on the Calgun FAQ that if I have a mag lock weapon, I must always have a mag locked in, otherwise it would be considered as an AW. If I do so, how would I use the gun lock?
I can leave an empty mag in the gun and have the bolt held open with BHO but the gun lock through the magwell made sure that the bolt could never be closed while in transport. So now, how could I place the lock such that the bolt could not be closed? It seems that while trying to be a safe gun owner, I would be violating the law and that the only way to abide by the law is to leave the gun unlocked. These laws are so screwed up.
Any advice?
