Virtue signaling: first Gillette now HP

Hewlett-Packard will now restrict their 3D printers from printing ghost guns so they say...

HP says it will limit its 3-D printers' ability to create 'ghost guns'

HP Inc. said it won’t allow users of its 3-D printers to produce guns unless done so by firearms manufacturers and the weapons can be detected by airport security.

It's a bit on the funny side since the HP 3D printers range from $50,000-$300,000. With that kind of money you could have gotten a bunch of real weapons from Leland Yee.

How does the printer know what it is printing? Do the files for a gun have an identifier?

          Yes, it proudly self-identifies as a ghost-gun free 3D printer (boy, that's a mouthful!).

It will be in the Terms and Conditions - "This product may not be used to produce 3D guns, or else..."

Maybe they're protecting themselves from possible future liability / litigation.
