The police obviously want to arrest the gun owners for brandishing/discharging a firearm. Or possibly even assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder. Good luck on those 6 people turning themselves in.

My opinion is they had no justification to shoot the tires. The guy in front of the car may have had justificatio to shoot as it was advancing on him but once the car was fleeing and no longer a threat I doubt there was justification to shoot at it or the driver even if it killed the guy. Standing in front of the car put the guy in a confrontation so he might not be justified if he shot the driver. Sort of like shooting at a car when trying to use the cross walk. You might be legally correct to expect the vehicle to yield but if it does not I doubt you can pull a gun on the driver expecting it will make him yield.

Being a good Samaritan is one thing, looking for headaches is something else.

As long as the perps were caught and the shooting (by those who tried to stop a crime) did not cause any harm, who cares which one shot the front or rear tire.

Depending on the place, it could be ruled justified to shoot the driver once the getaway car ramed into one of them.
Same as a getaway car purposely hitting one of six officers around the car. The others 5 would have given the driver a lead shower and fully justified too.

The only reason the police showed an interest was because of the shooting. Had there been no shooting, this case would have been given a very low priority--likely eventually becoming a cold case.

people are sick and tired of depending on the police to take care of them. They're taking things into their own hands. And rightfully so.

But they might have self motivation, if they're doing something illegal, immoral or worse and don't want to get caught by someone with a gun that they can't just payoff, promote or lawyer it away in court.
