    What to buy

Came across a few extra bucks, looking to buy something with it!

I was going to buy my first handgun, but if I plan to move out of CA in July, do I really want to pay extra for a CA compliant handgun just to leave?

What are some good suggestions of rifles in the $500 range? I don't own a .22 yet so maybe that would be a good pick up. What does the CGN community think a must have should be?

If i do the 10/22 I'm definitely putting the m1 carbine stock set and sights on it. I've been foaming to grab one of those

What's a typically fair price for a run-of-the-mill 10/22? Any good stores in the bay to get a decent deal face to face?

10/22 is great, also in your budget is a CZ 455.

Kahr CW 9 would be a handgun that is same price here as in free states. You could probably get one of those and a 10/22 for around $500, maybe a little more.

                ^^^^ nitrox.

Unless you find a great deal, give your new state the taxes/fees as applicable.

Agree with nitroxdriver too. The only thing I can see buying if I were in your position would be optics.

Even buying .22lr AR uppers in CA means you have to lose your 10+ mags or have them blocked, not worth it just for 7 months.

Too bad you can't use those 7 months to submit a Form 4 for a suppressor or factory SBR...

Take a look at the new Ruger 9mm carbine. A great little gun, uses Glock magazines.

Could probably get to be pretty good shot in 7 months with a ccw type pistol, then get a ccw permit in the new state.

You will be shocked at the type of guns they sell in other states. If you go to a
Cabelas you will see rows upon rows of tiny pocket pistols. There are hardly any full sized pistols sold like the ones most Californian's use. You can find the bigger pistols but you may need to to hit two or three small mom and pop guns store to find the on you want.

                          I vote for Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22
All the controls are identical to those on an AR-15
You can practice handling an AR so you'll be ready for a real one once you're out of the PRK.

also open to c&r ideas as I have 03/coe. Anything isn 7.62x39, .223/5.56 or 30-06.

There's a very nice russian SKS for sale in the collector's exchange that i've been eyeballing

Edit: I think i'm going to buy the SKS, as I already have an AK in 7.62x39, so it's a perfect companion. I'll save the AR's and what not for my tax return and free state status

I'd wait until you move. Look at a couple shops and see what they have to offer. Good way to get to know a LGS.
